A few more suggestions of things people would like to address:

• There were many people who felt that Peterborough can sometimes have low expectations of our young people.

• There were many in the cohort that felt the project might begin to raise young people’s aspirations in Peterborough.

• There were many individuals representing groups that do not have any association with contemporary education, children or young people and therefore felt they wanted to know a little bit more about education prior to any involvement in schools.

• A few representatives of groups spoke of their hope to involve young people in their organisations to contribute to their work, e.g. the Peterborough Civic Society’s membership mostly consists of those of post-retirement age and they are keen to engage young people with the group.

• There were thoughts about setting up a ‘one stop shop’ of contacts and ideas to share around schools and settings in order for them to draw upon the different community groups as and when needed.

Some more links and project ideas have been coming to light which I'll list here - whether or not these will go forward we will have to wait and see, but it's great to see what people are thinking about! If any of this gets you thinking then please do weigh in with your own ideas:

  • general desire to do more across the curriculum through using the cathedral: we'll be setting up a meeting in the new year with the schools and the cathedral to see where that takes us

  • a possible link between the Regional College and Nene Park Trust around landscaping activities for NEET young people - let us know how that goes!

  • new link between Civic Society and the Nassington Village History Group - whether or not that has any implications for schools I hope the link is useful.

  • possible work to be done between Relate and one of the primary schools around emotional well being of those children who take a lot of responsibility due to being the strongest English speaker at home.

  • Using the museum resources to deliver languages in an engaging way through history - Romans perhaps? - getting beyond tourist French!

I'm sure there were lots of other conversations and ideas bubbling but I hope this gives a flavour of the kind of thinking that is happening. Feel free to add your own thoughts!
