Citizen Power: Peterborough

Learning from the Local, June 2011

More recently...  Learning from the local - 13th June 2011

In June, the Heritage Attractions Group held an event called ‘Learning from the local’ at Sacrewell Farm. It was a perfect opportunity for educational professionals to come and discuss the learning opportunities available from organisations in and around Peterborough.

Start by taking a look at this short film, which features an introduction from John Richards (former Director of Children's Services, Peterborough City Council) and a brief update from the many cultural, historic, agricultural and environmental learning resources in and around Peterborough.

Attractions at the event included: Nene Valley Railway, Burghley House, Great Fen Project, Nene Park, Railworld, Peterborough Museum, Clare Cottage, Peterborough Cathedral, The Prebendal Manor, & Thorney Heritage Museum.

The Citizen Power Peterborough team were also at the event, with activities to show what fantastic learning opportunities there are around every corner in Peterborough, things which would often go unnoticed, and this was accompanied by a video which you can view.

The event had a great atmosphere with organisations having the opportunity to meet up, educational professionals having time to explore the learning resources available, and a tractor ride enabled visitors to join Rudolph the tractor on a journey around the farm!

If you missed out on the event, there is talk of a repeat of the event in the autumn. But in the meantime we would like to invite you to keep your eyes peeled when walking around Peterborough and ask yourself ‘What can I learn from Peterborough?’

Here is the Learning from the local video to inspire you:
