Citizen Power: Peterborough

Creative Gathering 7

Thanks to all those who attended the 7th Creative Gathering in Peterborough...

At this Gathering, we gathered to share our experiences and ideas about:

Artists in residence              What kind of attachment or role is possible?

Artists as residents              How do we act and how are we perceived?

Artists and residents           What work and interactions are occurring?

Everyone took part in making and exhibiting a brief creative ‘statement’ in relation to one or more of these elements, which then formed part of a ‘scratch’ exhibition that expresses our different perspectives on the Artist/Resident dynamic.

The statements images and photographs, sculpture,  music and performance, poetry, art installations, spoken word and more.   Here is just a small sample...

These statements were curated ‘live’ for our scratch exhibition by visual artist Rene Viner and Beat This CIC Co-Director Lee Ashton.  Inspiration was provided by local artists Xodus Pain and Fiona Lidgey who offered their perspectives on the three elements of Artist / Resident.

Click here for more photos of the evening and some of the artworks created.

Some wonderful, inspirational ideas emerged on the themes of Artist / Resident.

Poem for Gathering 7

Looking from Without

Looking from Within

Players from Within

Who knows best?

Who looks down?

Who knows more?

Who looks around?

Looking from Without

Looking from Within?
