Have you lived in Peterborough long?
6 years
What is your own vision for Peterborough?
A city where the arts is accessible to all and seen as something that enriches all of our lives.
One thing you'd like to change about the place?
I think I'd like to change the perspective of the arts as being a closed community and find ways to open up projects to the wider population.
What areas of the Citizen Power project are you most interested in?
Arts and social Change and The Peterborough Curriculum.
What's your favourite place to eat in Peterborough?
Prezzo's or Drapers
Favourite place to go?
I tend to head down Charters a lot!
If a Martian came to Peterborough, what would you show him/her/it to explain what the place was about?
I'd probably show get them to meet the young adults of Peterborough, get them to wander around the city centre and then get them to view the message log on The Evening Telegraph's website. that'd give them a pretty good idea.
Tell us some more about yourself
I'm a writer and performer who freelances as a creative consultant within schools - mainly offering CPD for English departments on ways to develop creativity within our students or to develop the writing of boys in particular.
I used to be a teacher for 5 years at Hampton College and I loved every minute of it - but the writing and performing were starting to take off so I've taken up an MA in creative Writing at Goldsmith's and I'm often in London, or touring with my show 'Dead Poets,'or doing some of that CPD stuff.
I co-created and co-host 'A Pint of Poetry and a Dash of Drama', a free open mic poetry and Drama night at Charters and I created 'Speakeasy,' a night which I now co-host with Keely Mills at The Brewery Tap. I'm biased, but I think they're both excellent events.
You can find out more about me at www.deadpoetry.co.uk, if you're interested. Or just email me at www.grist_mark@hotmail.com
