Profile Information

Where are you from?
Peterborough (from Cape Town via London)
Website
http://www.reneviner.co.uk
Have you lived in Peterborough long?
just over 8 years
What is your own vision for Peterborough?
Gosh, where do I start! More visual art on display in more spaces, a vibrant cafe society night life in cathedral square, the embankment brought to life with cultural and leisure venues, more independent shops, more upmarket shops to bring the well-heeled into the city and better quality restaurants (Jims's Bistro is not enough, there should be more choice)
One thing you'd like to change about the place?
Obviously the perception that Peterbourough is a dump with no culture.
What areas of the Citizen Power project are you most interested in?
Arts and social change
What's your favourite place to eat in Peterborough?
Jim's Bistro
Favourite place to go?
Along the river bank near my home
If a Martian came to Peterborough, what would you show him/her/it to explain what the place was about?
It would be quite a lengthy tour as this is a place of such diversity and ancient history.
Tell us some more about yourself
I am an artist - swapped a high-flying career in advertising in London for motherhood in Peterborough, but that is a long story all of its its own. Grew up in breathtakingly beautiful South Africa but have found my home here in the UK. A Committee Member of PAOS Peterborough Artists' Open Studios) and currently working on a separate project to show three art exhibitions in Peterborough over the next 6 months. I am keen to promote the visual arts in this City and get involved wherever possible. More about me on my website : www.reneviner.co.uk

Megan sat through the whole thing but i think she was just mesmerised by Mark's beard! She did ask at dinner why Nobby lived in a bus shelter. and when i told her it was because he didn't eanted to live in a house, she said "He should buy a tent.." She's obviously been talking to those living on the encampment on that roundabout.

Yep... the best thing is to add it to the Google Calendar on the site which is something only I can do at the moment... and it's a bit too time consuming at the moment. But we're working on fixing this so it's going to be much more powerful.

Added... thanks for that.

Welcome Rene. Congratulations on the PAOS stuff. That's a great model. We're hoping to devise a method in which events - arts events especially - get linked up more so that they achieve bigger audiences. Fingers crossed we get the funding for that.

Please feel free to contribute to all areas of the site. The more interaction we can get going here the more useful it will become.
